adaptation of video games in films and shows
This animated anthology series features original stories set in the world of iconic video games. Video games have made a big leap to the big screen, and we celebrate more than 50 genres. Clive Standen reprises his role as Demetrius Titus, the protagonist of the video game Space Marine 2.
The episode takes place after the events of the game
Apart from a few cool episodes, “Secret Level” feels like a monument to mediocrity. The plot is painfully mediocre, drags out the whole show, despite the undeniably stunning visual effects – although even they seem like warmed-over remnants of a decade of excellent feature films. Honestly, what is this show trying to do or say that the last 10+ years of video game marketing haven’t been able to achieve (and make better)?
Where are the famous names?
The list of names is staggering. The lack of strong forwards tells one thing: the developers didn’t want to be part of the train wreck, or they were waiting to see if the first season would land. Attention, there is no spoiler.
The short form of the narrative seems to completely elude the creators
What should have been dense, impressive and memorable seems incoherent and boring. Variety called it a “boring snooze.” And this time Variety was not tough enough. The secret level proves that bright graphics cannot hide a lack of vision, heart or originality!
