If you are looking at this show through a narrative lens the pieces don’t fit
It tells the story of three very different families vying to buy the very same 1920s Spanish style villa that they think will solve all their problems.. The exterior shots of the house is similar to the same house Mitchell and Cam lived in on Modern Family.
There were lots of red herrings
We dive so far into each character’s backstory that the overall story doesn’t feel strong enough to stay on track. It all comes together in the end.
It definitely would be stronger without the ensemble
There are lots of familiar faces so I understand why they did that. There were some weak characters, both in writing and performance.
Best part by far
Some of the others seemed to struggle with the balance of comedy and drama. I think it’s time Netflix gave Linda Cardellini her own show.
